BEHIND THE WORDS

Okay, so this is where the story-telling comes in. Actually, I just wanted to say a little something about each of the songs because they all have a special place in my heart. Also, each has its own humble beginnings which you might be interested in knowing about.

You can dance the night awayWelcome To The Ball - I love this song. It makes me want to dance even when I don't want to... 'know what I mean? I wrote the words with the thought of that great big party in the sky. Y'know... big mansion, buffet, ballroom dancing, rubbing elbows, strolling down the patio with a glass of wine in your hand. Yeah but... 'scuse me sir, do you have your invitation with you?

I am sailing in a boat with my bestfriendCryin' Free - Another personal favorite. This tune will rock your boat! And the idea of freedom takes on a different route. This ain't about sailing the seas of cheese, y'know!

Hey, where are we going...Guess Who's Driving - I was on the 405 one afternoon back in '94 frustrated with traffic and this song starts forming in my head. Although my heart still needs to finish the song. But here's what I've got so far...

Sometimes I feel I hover in the airFalling - It's funny how I wrote the melody thinking, I can't sing this and make it sound good! I don't know, I just had to put a harmony line all throughout the song just to build my confidence! Just wanted to land safely, that's all.

Say hello to the yellow brick roadState Of Grace - Back in the old days, I used to write songs as often as I get thirsty. But somehow I slipped into this year-long drought and I was restless! I needed a song! I needed to breath! Thankfully, when 2001 came in, air flowed in fresh and out came this song. A lot of gratitude came gushing out of nowhere! That day actually sparked my interest in making this whole project.

Send forth the light of daySomeday - Coffee house open mic nights! On one of those I wrote this one while waiting for my turn to perform. Fun nights they were! Used to do it every week! I haven't done it in a while and I miss it. Wish I have time. Perhaps... someday.

Thank God I don't knowI don't Know - When you have too much time on your hands, this is what you end up writing about. At least when you realize you're in danger of possibly making the wrong choices. Sometimes not knowing what to do is the best situation to be in! Uuuh, what do you think?

Where death is lifeTonight, Tomorrow & Forever - My personal classic. If I could only write more songs like this. I just love the poignant lyrics. I was inspired after listen to the Indigo Girls' first album. A friend of mine gave it to me because she thought I'd somehow benefit from it. She had no idea...

Be loved my belovedBeloved - I didn't think I'd love this song till a year after I had written it. It's one of those too deep to enjoy in the beginning, you just have to let it grow on you. Strange though, I found out I'm the only one who feels that way.

I'll be waitingThe Other Side - This song is actually an old song that I wrote when I first heard Garth Brooks. I'm no country boy but I took a personal challenge anyway... hey, I tried, okay? Give me a pedal steel and I'll prove it to ya... boy!

As the band played the sweet, sweet musicCircus Came To Town - Chunky rhythm, bar band rock and roll. Hootie & The Blowfish comes to mind. Well, I thought I was going to rewrite "Hold My Hand" with this one. Thank goodness I failed. Uuuh, I think. It rocks though.

At the end of the day there's a way we goThese Are The Days - This is another song that I truly dig! Cross my bleeding heart! It's a gloomy number I wrote one morning (I think it was my birthday) after I woke up and thought that time was running out! Hmmm... but isn't it though?
